June 2025: Meet Faith, Joel, and Hanifah!

We are excited to have several Ravens Youth pursing healthcare degrees right now. Last month, we introduced you to Esther. Now meet Faith, Joel, and Hanifah!

Faith is a 20-year-old with a passion for Nursing and Midwifery. Her life dramatically changed after the loss of her father. Her mother struggled to support her education and Faith lost hope.

But then, her mother’s friend introduced Faith to Ravens Ministries. Although it took more than two years for Ravens to gather enough funding to take her off of their waitlist, Faith held on to hope and is now pursuing her dream career in Nursing and Midwifery.

Faith's hard work has earned her notable achievements.

She has been appointed as a Vice President of an important and highly regarded school club that helps strengthen and sensitize students to thrive in their various cultures—an important skill in caring for patients as whole persons. She also serves as a Class Representative for her academic department.

Joel was one of the Ravens Youth who attended the Nurses Heart to Heart day-long intensive training back in April. He was an excellent student—you can see him here demonstrating his new CPR skills to the Ravens community!

Joel is studying nursing and is driven by the desire to close the healthcare gaps he witnesses in his community. 

He envisions a future where he provides high quality, compassionate healthcare to the many people currently struggling to receive basic medical care. Joel wants to bring healing through both medicine and kindness. 

And this is Hanifah. Hanifah's father abandoned his family, leaving her mother, a farmer, to struggle alone. After her mother's passing due to HIV/AIDS in 2019, Hanifah, as the eldest child, took on the responsibility of caring for her younger siblings. 

This was extremely difficult for her: because she hadn't finished school, she wasn't able to secure sufficient work or a sustainable job that would meet her family's needs. 

With the help of her aunt, Hanifah connected with Ravens and was able to start down a new path for herself and her siblings.

Hanifah is currently studying Medical Laboratory Technology. Her passion is to help those who are living with incurable diseases and to prevent premature deaths, like the loss of her mother. She wants to create a brighter future for herself and her siblings, and the many other families who face similar circumstances.
